bay leaves
Laurel leaves, California bay leaves, and Indonesian laurel are just a few of the names given to bay leaves.
Normally it is used dried, tossed in stews, or sauces. It can also be thrown into a pot of simmering water where pasta is going to be cooked. In order to intensify its flavor, you can crush the bay leaves, but this will make it harder to remove at the end. You can always use a mesh bag, or some cheesecloth to contain it.
You can use bay leaves to make garam masala, or massaman curry.
