marzipan
Marzipan is a confectionary paste made with honey, ground almonds, and sugar. It is used widely to make decorative items in for pastries. For example, if you make a Buche Noel for Christmas, you can make mushrooms, flowers, and pine cones out of marzipan.
Marzipan can also be used when making King Cake which is popular at carnival time. Another use that comes to mind is in Stollen, a popular German cake.
In Northern European countries, like the Netherlands, marzipan figures are given to children for St. Nicholas Day. In Iran, it is shaped into flowers and baked.
You can certainly make it at home with very basic ingredients. It will taste better and be less expensive also.
