walnuts
Since walnuts are a nut, they are rich in dietary fiber, but also in another component that helps to keep your brain healthy. Interestingly enough they also look a little bit like a brain. An ancient medical treatise called The Doctrine of Signatures relates the shape of vegetables, herbs, and fruits to what organ in the body they help. Given the shape of walnuts, they were said to help your brain.
They contain omega -3 fatty acids which are also crucial to heart health, and an anti inflammatory.
Walnuts can be enjoyed in so many ways: by themselves, candied and tossed in salads, and definitely in baking. I just made some chocolate chip and walnut cookies the other day, and they were outstanding.
