Greek yogurt
Greek yogurt is basically yogurt that has been drained to remove excess water thus creating a thicker consistency product.
Greek yogurt is very similar to Middle Eastern labneh. Although it is relatively a new product in the US, it has formed an integral part of the diet in Central Asia, the Middle East, South Asian and Levantine cuisine for centuries.
Levantine cuisine refers to the culinary traditions of Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria, as well as parts of southern Turkey.
In Greece for example Greek yogurt (strained yogurt) is the basis for tzatziki sauce, which is widely eaten with vegetables.
Labneh, is a dish of strained yogurt often topped with olive oil, thyme, and other herbs, and accompanied with pita bread.
