If you've not tried the flavors of South East Asia, now is the time. The emphasis in this cuisine is flavors in harmony. When you taste the different dishes it is a symphony of fresh flavors balanced out with spicy, sweet, and savory. My only exposure to South East Asian cuisine was our local Thai restaurant and my niece's husband's cooking. He is from Indonesia. These dishes were unlike anything I'd ever tried.
Next, my daughter moved to Vietnam to teach English. She loved it there, naturally and spent three years teaching, traveling, and learning about the local cuisine. Her bravery in trying street foods is truly unprecedented. She is one to sit down and try something, then ask what it is a few bites in!
But I digress. Over her time there, she made it a point to dive deep and learn about the heart and soul of the cuisine from this part of the world. Making sure to grasp the nutritional, medicinal, aesthetic, and cultural perspectives of the different dishes. What she returned with was truly fascinating.
Well, apart from cooking all the time, I tasked her with writing down the recipes so other people could make these wonders in their homes. With no further ado, I hope you enjoy our latest ebook, A Taste of South East Asia.
