German
German food like many other world cuisines is regional. It tends towards the heavier end as far as foods are concerned, but it is very flavorful and satisfying as well.
Some of the favorites are spaetzles-a noodle type dish that you can eat with just about any meat dish. My German friend introduced me to zweibelkuchen, which in essence is an onion quiche. It is absolutely delicious. Zweibelkuchen goes great with a side of greens.
One of my favorite German recipes is a main dish, a chicken cooked in beer. This is a perfect dish on a cold night which we get a lot of in the frozen north.
Along the lines of German desserts are lebkuchen, a cookie made around Christmas time which contains cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. They are the perfect ending to any meal, and are great dunked in coffee or milk. YUM!
