The flavors of Turkish cooking are a great infusion of the multitude of cultures Turkish food is made up of. Being at the crossroads between Europe and Asia, Turkey's flavors are unique and numerous. Turkey was once a key point in the spice trade.

For making the perfect blend paprika is key; there is also sumac, cayenne, coriander, cumin! By the way, sumac is that tart red powder which is a key ingredient in zatar.

Mix a bit of this Turkish seasoning blend with a bit olive oil to make a healthy and delicious dip for your pita bread. Sprinkle it over vegetables or rice. It is so delicious and flavorful. A good Turkish seasoning blend starts with good paprika, so make sure you get a high quality one. If you are able to find Turkish oregano, even better!

For a quick snack, brush olive oil on pita bread, toast it, and sprinkle with Turkish seasoning blend. Healthy and delicious.

    Marinate Meats

When grilling season arrives use the Turkish seasoning to marinate meats.  Add 3 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of Turkish seasoning to bowl and combine.  Pour this over chicken, beef kebabs, shrimp and marinate for 2-3 hours before grilling.
