cilantro
Cilantro is sometimes called Chinese parsley. It tastes nothing like parsley! It is widely used in Latin American cuisine, and Southeast Asian cuisine as well.
Although the entire plant is edible, the parts are called different names. The seeds and ground powder are referred to as coriander, its flavor is a bit earthy. It is one the spices that can be used to make chili powder.
Cilantro has been around for a very long time. Archaeological records place it in caves 6,000 years ago.It has also been found in Ancient Egypt. Needless to say it has formed part of the cuisine of many ancient civilizations.
I use this herb frequently in my cooking. I use it to make recaito which is a seasoning base for many Latin American and Caribbean dishes.
